Nobu Shoreditch, London’s newest Nobu restaurant, set within the striking Nobu Hotel Shoreditch, recently announced the launch of the innovative new Nobu Café in the Lobby Lounge of the hotel. It serves an eclectic café menu with an exclusive Matcha bar, London’s only Kinto hand-brew Japanese filter-coffee and a luxurious Nobu-style afternoon tea.
Nobu Café is the latest project from internationally acclaimed Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, who launched Nobu Restaurants in 1993 with Hollywood actor Robert De Niro and producer Meir Teper. Here he shares his favourite new cocktail at the Shoreditch location.
Tell us about the cocktail you have chosen and why it is so great for the summer?
The Smoked Sunrise is great for summer as it is a unique cocktail perfect for summer city nights rather than a traditional summer cocktail for lounging on the beach. The yuzu gives the cocktail a clean and crisp finish, ideal for the London heat.
What’s the secret to the perfect summer tipple?
The perfect summer tipple has to be refreshing, chilled and clean. Nobu Café is aiming to bring unique cocktails to Shoreditch rather than the traditional, sugary summer cocktail.
What’s your favourite summer drink?
My favourite summer drink would have to be a margarita!

- Nectar sun tea (Japanese tea)
To make a Smoked Sunrise, the perfect summer cocktail served at the Nobu Café in Nobu Hotel London Shoreditch, combine mezcal, yuzu and rose syrup and shake over ice before pouring into a champagne glass. Garnish with nectar sun tea and egg white.
